Marbella with Kids or Families in 2026: Best Beaches, Activities & Hotels

If you’ve ever wondered whether Marbella can actually be a proper family holiday destination (and not just a playground for the rich and famous), the answer in 2026 is a resounding yes. As the founder of Inside Marbella and someone who’s raised kids right here on the coast, I can tell you this city has quietly become one of the most family-friendly spots on the entire Costa del Sol. The secret? A perfect mix of golden beaches, adrenaline-packed adventures, gentle nature walks, and indoor backups for those rare rainy days.

Tips for Traveling with Kids on the Costa del Sol – Costa del Sol News

We’ve tested every single activity on this list with our own children and visiting nieces and nephews. Some days we’re building sandcastles at sunrise, others we’re ziplining through the treetops or spotting dolphins from a boat. Here’s my honest, up-to-date 2026 guide to Marbella with kids — the places we actually return to again and again.

Golden Beaches Made for Little Feet

Marbella’s beaches are the ultimate family playground. Wide stretches of soft sand, calm shallow waters, and plenty of chiringuitos serving fresh fish and ice cream mean you can easily spend a full day without anyone getting bored. Our go-to is the area around Puerto Banús and further east toward Elviria — less crowded than the central strip but still with all the facilities.

For a more relaxed vibe with kids in tow, head to Mistral Beach right in Puerto Banús. It’s not one of those wild party beach clubs — instead, it’s a welcoming spot with wooden tables right on the sand, shaded areas, and a menu that includes kid-friendly options like fresh pasta and grilled fish. The staff are genuinely lovely with children, and the gentle waves make paddling safe even for toddlers. We love arriving early, claiming a spot, and letting the day unfold at its own pace.

High-Energy Adventures at Amazonia Marbella (Elviria)

If your kids have energy to burn, Aventura Amazonia Marbella in Elviria is pure magic. Just 500 metres from the beach and one of the largest adventure parks in Andalusia, it offers six different circuits tailored by age and height — from MiniKids (for ages 4+) all the way up to the thrilling Sports circuit with the longest zipline in the region (240 metres!).

We’ve done the full family package here multiple times. The safety briefing is excellent, the instructors patient, and the treetop walkways feel like a real jungle adventure without ever being overwhelming. Pro tip: book the morning slot in summer — the park stays cooler and the queues are shorter. It’s the kind of day that leaves everyone exhausted but grinning from ear to ear.

Dolphin Spotting by Boat from Puerto Banús

One of our all-time favourite family memories is the dolphin-spotting boat trip departing straight from Puerto Banús harbour. These 2-hour tours head out into the Mediterranean where bottlenose dolphins are regularly spotted playing in the waves. The boats are comfortable, with shaded areas and plenty of space for kids to move around.

The captains are brilliant at pointing out marine life and even let the kids help spot fins on the horizon. It’s educational without feeling like a classroom, and the smiles when a pod swims alongside the boat are priceless. Book with one of the smaller operators for a more intimate experience — many include soft drinks and snacks.

Nature & Gentle Exploration: Benahavís Riverwalk & Family Canyoning

For a break from the beach, drive 20 minutes inland to Benahavís and do the Riverwalk — a beautiful, easy riverside path that follows the crystal-clear Guadalmina River. It’s shaded, flat in parts, and perfect for little legs. We often combine it with a gentle family-friendly canyoning adventure offered by local guides.

These guided trips are suitable from age 6+ and include short abseils, natural pools for swimming, and optional (very safe) jumps. Helmets and wetsuits are provided, and the guides make sure everyone feels secure. It’s the perfect way to show kids the wild side of the Sierra de las Nieves without it being too extreme. Pack a picnic and end with lunch in one of Benahavís’s excellent village restaurants.

Rainy-Day (or Energy-Burn) Saviours

When the sun gets too strong or clouds roll in, we head indoors. Bowling Los Arqueros is our reliable favourite — a modern bowling alley with kid-sized lanes, bumpers for the little ones, and arcade games to keep everyone entertained. The whole family can play together, and there’s a café serving pizzas and milkshakes.

Another absolute winner is Clubhouse Marbella Indoor. This dedicated indoor playground and activity centre has soft-play areas, climbing walls, trampolines, and organised sessions that let parents actually sit down with a coffee for once. It’s air-conditioned, spotlessly clean, and a lifesaver during those occasional cooler days.

The Ultimate Day Trip: Bioparc Fuengirola

Just 30 minutes down the coast lies Bioparc Fuengirola — hands-down one of the best zoos we’ve ever visited. It’s a “zoo of the future” with no bars or cages, just immersive habitats that feel like stepping into Africa or Asia. Kids go wild for the free-roaming lemurs, the tiger viewing platform, and the daily animal talks.

We make a full day of it — arrive early, follow the suggested route, and finish with lunch at one of the on-site restaurants. The educational focus means the children learn without realising it, and the shaded paths make it comfortable even in summer heat.

Where to Stay: Family-Friendly Hotels in Marbella 2026

For the full experience, choose a hotel that actually understands families. Puente Romano and Marbella Club both have excellent kids’ clubs and family suites, while newer options like Ikos Andalusia offer all-inclusive with dedicated children’s pools and activities. If you want something more low-key, look at apartments on the Golden Mile or in Elviria — many have pools and are walking distance to beaches and Amazonia.

My Personal Family Tips for Marbella in 2026

  • Rent a car — it makes day trips to Benahavís and Fuengirola so much easier.
  • Always pack sunscreen, hats, and reusable water bottles.
  • Book popular activities (Amazonia, dolphin boats, canyoning) at least a week in advance during July and August.
  • Shoulder seasons (May–June and September–October) are perfect: fewer crowds and milder temperatures.

Marbella with kids in 2026 isn’t just possible — it’s genuinely magical. From ziplining at Amazonia to dolphin spotting at sunset, from splashing in the waves at Mistral Beach to exploring the river in Benahavís, this city has something for every age and every energy level.
